Fitness Training Built Around Disability

Peter Calderone, Reach My Potential

Peter is an AusActive Level 3 registered Personal Trainer, delivering fitness sessions built around disability.

AusActive L3 Personal Training

This is personal training built around disability from the ground up, delivered by an AusActive Level 3 registered trainer who is also a disability professional with 23 years in the sector. Sessions are shaped to your body, your goals and your sensory preferences, whether you're building strength for daily tasks, improving balance and stamina, working toward a sporting goal or wanting to feel better in yourself. You can train at a gym, in a park or in your own lounge room. When fitness supports your disability goals, it can be funded through the health and wellbeing supports in your NDIS plan.

  • Training at home, outdoors or in the gym
  • Programs matched to your body and goals
  • Delivered by a qualified disability professional

Common Questions

More About Health And Fitness Support

Yes, when the training relates to your disability and the goals in your plan, personal training can be funded through the health and wellbeing part of your capacity building budget. We'll help you connect the sessions to your goals so the value is clear at plan reviews, and we're glad to talk with your plan manager about the detail.

Especially for you. Sessions start from wherever you are, and the first goals are usually small and practical: getting up from a chair more easily, walking further, carrying the shopping. Fitness for daily life comes first, and anything sportier is there if you want it later.

Your trainer, Peter, is a disability professional first, with decades of experience supporting people with intellectual disability and autistic people. He's also an AusActive Level 3 registered trainer, and that combination is powerful. It means sessions are planned around communication, sensory preferences and energy levels as carefully as they're planned around sets and reps.

Wherever works for you: your home, a local park, a community gym or a pool. Many people prefer starting somewhere private and familiar, then moving into community spaces as confidence grows, and that progression can be part of the plan from day one.
